An OWL is Born

In the summer of 2018, five individuals who had met previously through coding competitions joined up to compete in the IBM Call for Code. In the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Maria in 2017, the Call for Code was a hackathon that brought together developers from 156 nations to build technology that can help communities prepare for and recover from natural disasters. We named our idea for the hackathon "Project OWL".

Project OWL ultimately won the global grand prize and since has deployed in dozens of locations from the U.S. to Europe, Asia, and Australia. Currently, Project OWL’s main geographical focus is Puerto Rico where in 2019 nearly 30 solar-powered, wireless DuckLink devices were installed around the island in communities and at Universities.

We are focused on innovative, cost-effective technology and remain committed building new networking solutions for the people, places, and things that need it most.
